Jesus Appears to
And as they were talking together, Jesus himself appeared in the middle of of the group and greeted them with these words, "Peace be to you."
But they were terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost!
But He said to them, "Why are you so troubled and thinking such thoughts in your hearts?
Look at my hands and my feet that it I."
Then he showed them His scarred hands and feet.
The apostles were astonished but not ready to believe just yet.
Then He asked them, "Do you have anything to eat here?"
They gave him a piece of broiled fish and part of a honeycomb. He took it and ate it in front of them.
Then He explained, "I was trying to tell you before when I was with you that what has happened is written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms."
Then he opened their understanding so they could understand the Scriptures.
"You see, this is written in the Scriptures. They foretold that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead the third day. And that repentance and forgiveness of sentence should be preached in his name among all nations beginning in Jerusalem.
You are witnesses of these things!
Look, I'm about to send what the father hass promised upon you, so wait in Jerusalem until you receive power from on high."
Then He led the as far as Bethany and lifted up His hands and blessed them. While He was blessing them, He was taken away from them and carried up to heaven.
The disciples worshiped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they praised and blessed God continually in the temple.
